This device can also be operated in two modes - Standard and Secure Mode. In Standard Mode, the SECURE BOARD 1.0 works like a standard keyboard with an integrated card reader. The card reader features both contact and contactless/NFC card reading capabilities. For an added level of security, the SECURE BOARD 1.0 can be operated in Secure Mode to encrypt keystrokes as a preventative measure against keylogging. With this feature, the device can authenticate itself with a certificate, and the key transmission is encrypted. This innovation would make it nearly impossible for keyloggers to intercept sensitive data such as passwords. The Secure Mode also protects against BadUSB attacks, by locking the USB channel, thus, preventing any other devices from malicious activity, providing secure communication. The integrated Class 2 reader, which works for ISO 7816 and ISO 14443 A/B-compliant smart cards and cards/tags with an RF/NFC interface, is stable enough for one-handed operation.
